Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1)

Course Description and Objective

  • The basics of electrochemistry, corrosion, and CP.
  • Understand CP testing theory such as continuity test, protection criteria, field tests as structure-soil potentials, voltage and current measurements, soil resistivity, and rectifier readings.
  • Explain basic CP components including sacrificial systems and impressed current systems.
  • Determine the criteria for CP system effectiveness including periodic surveys, shunts, rectifiers, and reference cells.
  • Get to know CP safety issues, and CP code requirements.
  • Utilize basic location mapping, report preparation, and record keeping.
