Course Description and Objective
- The basics of electrochemistry, corrosion, and CP.
- Understand CP testing theory such as continuity test, protection criteria, field tests as structure-soil potentials, voltage and current measurements, soil resistivity, and rectifier readings.
- Explain basic CP components including sacrificial systems and impressed current systems.
- Determine the criteria for CP system effectiveness including periodic surveys, shunts, rectifiers, and reference cells.
- Get to know CP safety issues, and CP code requirements.
- Utilize basic location mapping, report preparation, and record keeping.
